A graphic designer and art director, Diana’s minimalist work is founded
in bauhaus principles and Swiss typography. Previously, her London consultancy specialized in print, branding and exhibition design for architects, galleries and museums across Europe.
Many years on, her enduring interest
in 20th century art and architecture
led to a more tactile, hands-on design practice, part relocation to New York
and founding Whitebeam Studio in partnership with her daughter, artist Holly AllenCooper.
Holly has a visual arts background.
A graduate of The Cooper Union
School of Art in New York, she specializes in fine art photography
and sculpture, exhibiting in London,
New York and at hollyallencooper.com.
As a designer, her grounding in
ceramics and metalwork led her to adapt sculpting techniques to the
design of jewellery and homeware products, founding Whitebeam Studio
in partnership with Diana Allen.

Whitebeam Studio is a multi-disciplinary designer/maker studio founded in 2013
by English artist Holly AllenCooper and Diana Allen, a designer. At studios in Clerkenwell London and Brooklyn New York, Diana and her daughter Holly design collaboratively, the range of their work reflecting their individual backgrounds in sculpture and photography, typography and graphic design.
Architectural Jewelry - Whitebeam's stainless steel jewelry is founded in contemporary minimalism and characterized by an experimental approach to industrial materials and sculpting techniques. Handmade at the Whitebeam studio, our Vertex collection and Toolbox pendants are also available at London's new Design Museum, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Scotland’s latest conservation centre, The Engine Shed.
Whitebeam Editions - the Eclipse series of limited edition prints explores contrast in geometric and organic form. The original colour studies are made by combining handmade paint with raw refined pigment, diffusing the colour and adding raw texture. Museum quality printing on 100% cotton paper conserves the texture and depth of the original.
Whitebeam Ceramics - new Union ceramics trace the evolution of ‘&’, from
the Latin ‘et’ representing partnership, collaboration and coming together. Diana's typography and Holly's calligraphic drawing create a graphic history across six side plates and a serving plate, all on English fine bone china.
Whitebeam Studio takes its name from ‘Whitebeams’, the home of Diana’s grandparents - Holly’s greatgrandparents. English whitebeam trees lined its driveway and exquisite jewelry designed by her grandmother was an inspiration for founding Whitebeam Studio.
